SAN JOSE — A three-alarm fire that broke out in an apartment complex Thursday evening displaced 75 residents, authorities said.
The blaze, which was reported to firefighters shortly after 5 p.m., began as a two-alarm attic fire impacting three units, according to a social media post from the San Jose Fire Department.
The fire was upgraded to a third alarm at 5:39 p.m., authorities said. Firefighters knocked down the blaze at 6:12 p.m. and got it under control at 7 p.m.
The apartment complex, a two-story garden-style building, was on the 3000 block of David Avenue, authorities added.
The fire impacted 22 units, authorities said. The Red Cross was contacted for the displaced residents.
Traffic was impacted on David Avenue between Winchester Boulevard and Monica Lane, authorities said.
