Lam Thanh Mac, 39, was arrested June 19 at a San Jose home in connection with the Aug. 11 homicide in the 900 block of McLaughlin Avenue, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The early morning shooting outside a local business claimed the life of 35-year-old San Jose resident Khoa Dag. Until recently, there was no public disclosure about the shooter, who fled before police arrived.

In early May, San Jose police released Mac’s name and photo to the public to generate leads on his whereabouts. Investigators believed that he traveled to the Las Vegas area immediately after the shooting.

But Mac was in San Jose when a contingent of SJPD MERGE officers — the city’s SWAT equivalent — and covert and special-operations officers arrested him. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of murder.
